Similarly to last year, Belgium will undertake a reporting exercise under the legal framework on the 2010 HNS Convention. The purpose of this Convention is to guarantee adequate, prompt and effective compensation for damage to persons and property linked to the transport of hazardous and noxious substances (HNS) by sea. ‘HNS’ represent a wide array of chemical substances of varying properties and hazards, which include dangerous bulk cargoes, as listed here, and include LPG, LNG, oil (persistent and non-persistent), solids, liquids and others. In order to comply with the Belgian regulations, principal and physical receivers of HNS, such as terminals, storage facilities, chemical companies, traders, etc are expected to submit a reporting form by 15th of March 2025 to dgmar.reg@mobilit.fgov.be. This report does not entail a financial contribution before the entry into force of the Convention.
More information can be found in the attached invitation and forms. All questions may be directed at dgmar.reg@mobilit.fgov.be
The recording of this reporting session can be asked via tmerckx@essenscia.be
