On 23 November 2023, two new Innovation Fund calls for proposals will be launched to accelerate the deployment of innovative technologies in Europe. Together, the calls will make up to €4.8 billion available for industry and clean tech players in Europe to support the objectives of the European Green Deal and the Net-Zero Industry Act.
The hydrogen pilot auction will close on 8 February 2024 (estimated). Auctions are a new financing mechanism under the Innovation Fund and a key element of the EU Hydrogen Bank. A €800 million budget will be available for bidders (project developers).
The 2023 demonstration project calls will close on 9 April 2024 (estimated), with €4 billion budget for:
- (general) decarbonisation
- cleantech manufacturing
- maritime sector
- energy-intensive industries
