ECHA is soon expected to announce on its Registry of Intentions the preparation by the (German) authorities of a restriction proposal on 1,4-dioxane. In preparation for the intention submission, CESIO, a sector group of Cefic representing the manufacturers of surfactants, will organise a webinar on 22 May 2023 (from 13:00-16:45) to explore the potential sources of emissions and to consider available options for addressing them.
1,4-dioxane is found as an impurity in a number of ethoxylated non-ionic and anionic surfactants. As these surfactants are used in a variety of products on the EU market, ranging from detergents, to personal care products, textiles, and crop protection products, among others, the topic is very relevant for the surfactants industry as well as downstream users.
Interested stakeholders and members can register to this online event by using the following registration tool. All support will be important to improve scientific understanding around this topic, while considering the most appropriate restriction measures based on the latest scientific knowledge.
