In the framework of the Belgian recovery and resilience fund, and thus NextGenEU, a new call for projects on the substitution of hazardous substances was launched on 18 October.
This is a broad call for projects that contribute to the integration of the currently known principles on Safe and Sustainable by Design and to the reduction of the « most harmful substances » or « substances of concern ». There is a focus on 3 categories of products (PFAS, endocrine disruptors and a list of 12 priority substances), but also projects on other substances are eligible.
Different types of projects are eligible: fundamental and applied research, development of new processes, development of new products, innovative business models or generic instruments. Also, the target group is broad: companies, start-ups, research institutes, consultants and NGO’s. Financial support can range from 50.000€ to 2.000.000 € per partner. The deadline for submission is 31 December.
An online Q&A session will be organised on 17 November.
