The report illustrates, on the basis of many examples and good practices, the strong commitment of the industry towards the three most significant pillars of sustainable development: People, Planet and Prosperity. The chapter Products shows that the sector is constantly developing innovative products that bring solutions for the major global challenges our society is facing.

What’s new in the report?

  • A new indicator on resource efficiency clearly shows that the sector is producing more with less raw materials. Since 2005 the production index has increased by 41% whereas the proportion of energy used as a raw material has decreased by 8%.


  • The new Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations are stated in the present report when they are related to the indicators used. 

  • The online report makes it easy to share the indicators and the many initiatives of the sector with regard to sustainable development.
