Responsible Care in Belgium

essenscia (formerly Fedichem) has adhered to Responsible Care principles since May 1991. Participation in the programme has become a requirement for membership in the federation. Company directors who subscribe to the programme are involved in doing everything to improve their companies’ performance in matters of safety, protection of the environment and health in making contributions to society as a whole in the area of sustainable development.

Responsible Care is much more than a list of principles and declarations. Through progress indicators, the chemical industry informs the public of concrete results achieved by the whole sector in areas linked to safety and the protection of health and the environment. The chemical and life sciences industry strive to earn the public’s confidence by increasing transparency through the publication of key information, establishing a permanent dialogue with stakeholders and contributing efforts for clear and consistent communication.
