Chemical and life science industry sub-sectors subsidised the establishment of FOST Plus and Val-I-Pac, bodies recognised by the authorities. These are multisectoral initiatives working in cooperation with the three Regions. At issue is how to better prevent and manage waste from household and industrial packaging. Today, Belgium is recognised as a world leader in terms of prevention and performance in collecting and recycling waste from industrial packaging (79%) and household packaging (90%).
